As fuel prices have steadily risen, Evanston Lumber Company has worked to re-engineer our delivery process in order to improve efficiency. To optimize resources, we've developed a load coupling program. To help reduce input costs, we've utilized current technologies to plan better routes for our drivers. To enhance performance, we've adhered to a rigid maintenance schedule for our delivery vehicles.

But unfortunately, despite all our efforts, the following policy changes will go into
effect on July 1, 2008:

Deliveries under $100 (before tax), will incur a freight charge of
$60
per delivery

Deliveries under $300 (before tax), will incur a freight charge of
$40
per delivery

Deliveries above $300 (before tax), which incur NO freight charge

Also effective on July 1, 2008, we will be raising the fuel surcharge for every delivered order from $10.00 to $12.00 due to this year's huge run-up in diesel fuel prices.

Thank you for your cooperation during this period. Should you have any questions regarding these changes, please do not hesitate to call me directly.

Sincerely,

Robert Fisher
President

Why Are Diesel Prices Higher than Gasoline Prices?

Until several years ago, the average price of diesel fuel was usually lower than the average price of gasoline. In some winters when the demand for distillate heating oil was high, the price of diesel fuel rose above the gasoline price.

Since September 2004, the price of diesel fuel has been generally higher than the price of regular gasoline all year round for several reasons. Worldwide demand for diesel fuel and other distillate fuel oils have been increasing steadily, with strong demand in China, Europe, and the U.S., putting more pressure on the tight global refining capacity.

In the U.S., the transition to low-sulfur diesel fuel has affected diesel fuel production and distribution costs. Also, the Federal excise tax on diesel fuel is six cents higher per gallon (24.4 cents per gallon) than the tax on gasoline. [From the U.S. Energy Information Administration]

A: We suggest using DensArmor Plus paperless interior drywall. This product is a highly mold-resistant interior gypsum panel, perfect for basements and bathrooms. It has a glass-mat surface on both the front and the back, which make it the ideal replacement for paper-faced greenboard.
